Hello, I'm Kyle

Host, writer, and the slightly obsessive curator behind The Compendium: An Assembly of Fascinating Things.

A weekly variety podcast that gives you everything you need to know on a topic to help stand your ground at a social gathering. We explore stories from the darker corners of true crime, forgotten historical events, and incredible people.

Why We Started The Compendium

We started The Compendium because I was fed up with Adam never knowing anything about the incredible stories I’d fallen down the rabbit hole with over the years.

I’d send him links to my favourite true crime cases, historical events, and stories about unbelievable people, but to really get to grips with any of them, Adam often found he had to commit to an eight-part documentary series. And honestly, who has time for that?

So The Compendium was born — an assembly of fascinating things.

I set out to creat a platform where I could tell Adam amazing stories. I wanted The Compendium to feel alive: sharp, cinematic, funny, and occasionally deranged. Something that could make Adam, and you guys laugh one minute and question the fabric of society the next.

But it also had to fit into real life — whether you’re wrangling kids, commuting to work, or just killing time.

It was so important to me that I create a show that felt like you are hanging out with mates, but smarter. But above all, the goal was simple: to give you everything you need to know about a story so you can hold your own at any social gathering.

My Favourite Episode

“The Poop Cruise: Carnival Triumph and the Floating Disaster”

This is hands down my favourite episode, partly because it’s disgusting, partly because it’s one of the most bizarre examples of modern incompetence ever committed to the sea.

Imagine thousands of holidaymakers trapped on a cruise ship with no power, no plumbing, and far too much seafood. Within days, the decks were covered in tents, the toilets had failed, and the ship was being referred to as “The Poop Cruise” on national news.

It’s the perfect Compendium story: absurd, tragic, and deeply human. A floating city that devolved into chaos, corporate spin, and questionable plumbing. It’s funny, horrifying, and weirdly uplifting in all the worst ways.
